Software Quality Systems (SQS), headquartered in Germany has been working with Siemens PLM Software for the last seven year, beginning development of the automation framework in 2010.
The new framework will enable both the reliable and scalable automated testing of Teamcenter installations, as well as helping Siemens PLM Software’s customers minimise downtime and ensure the highest levels of quality when customising, deploying and integrating other PLM products.
Senior Vice-President of Lifecycle Collaboration Software for Siemens PLM Software, Eric Sterling, commented:
“Our partnership with SQS has allowed us to automate a significant portion of the regression test suite we use to validate the base Teamcenter product release, as well as any corrections necessary on top of the base release. We believe this has been a significant contributor to the increased reliability of Teamcenter 8 and Teamcenter 9. We are excited to partner with SQS to offer this test framework to our customers so that they can leverage the power of this investment for their own Teamcenter test harness.”

The company has stated that the automation framework will ensure optimal testing coverage, shorten release cycles, reduce the risk of costly software failure and alleviate pressure on internal teams.
Chief Operating Officer at SQS, Diederik Vos, said:
“Our partnership allows Siemens PLM Software’s customers to benefit from a proven, industrialised and unique software testing capability. Along with our Test Automation FaQtory, SQS brings a wealth of software testing experience, and our experts have already engaged with some major companies using Siemens PLM Software’s products. Through this partnership, we have the opportunity to play a central role in Siemens PLM Software’s quality management.”
SQS’s FaQtory is a facility which applies industrial processes to manage and execute automated testing for large scale environments, with a multitude of versions of Teamcenter tested. In total, approximately 5,000 automated test cases were executed over 45,000 times.
SQS plan on expanding its automation framework in the future to include additional Siemens PLM Software product suites, not just Teamcenter, as well as other CAD and ERP solutions capable of interfacing with Siemens PLM Software technology.
