There seems to be no end in sight to the ongoing legal battle between Apple and Samsung. Less than a week after Apple unveiled it's latest iPhone, stories have begun to emerge that it's intelligent antenna system has already been developed by rival smartphone manufacturer Samsung.

Even though Samsung is one of Apple's component suppliers, the two tech giants have traded law suits and patent claims for quite some time now. However, while Apple has gained the upper hand in banning some of Samsung's devices being sold in certain countries, the maker of the Galaxy range of smartphones and tablets could soon seek revenge.

According to various sources including 9to5mac, Danish professor Gert Frølund Pedersen, who claims to have predicted the original iPhone 4 antenna problem, believes Apple has copied Samsung's multiple antenna idea. Pedersen should know as he originally sold the patents to Samsung in 2007.

“I can not say that they are directly breaking the patent, but there are not many ways they can choose the right antenna, without coming to break many patents,” said Pedersen talking to ComON. “The idea is good enough, but the question is whether they are allowed to use it.”

The patents relate to the actual antenna, and the technology used to select the most appropriate out of multiple choices. Apple claims no other phone switches between two antennas to send and receive information, however Pedersen believes this technology has been around for some time.
