Reigning F1 Constructors Championship holders Red Bull Racing will extend its partnership with engine supplier Renault by a further five years. After continued success for Red Bull drivers Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber, Renaultsport F1 will continue to supply current technology until 2013 before the introduction of a new powertrain in 2014.

Rule changes to F1 in 2014 requires all teams to introduce smaller V6 engines in a move to become greener and more fuel efficient. Red Bull and Renaultsport F1 have entered in to a technical joint venture which will develop the new 1.6-litre V6 turbocharged engine.

For the two seasons leading up to the change, Renault will continue to supply Red Bull with V8 powertrains and KERS Motor Generator Units.

“Red Bull Racing and Renault share the views that stability is a fundamental condition to perform at the top levels of competition,” said Bernard Rey, President of Renaultsport F1. “As well as being a unique opportunity to showcase the performance of the Renault engines at the highest possible level, it is also a fantastic arena to develop the technology and expertise within the Renault-Nissan Alliance.”

Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing Team Principal, added: “We’re obviously thrilled to announce this significantly enhanced agreement with the Renault-Nissan Alliance, who we have enjoyed a close working relationship with since 2007. Together we have so far achieved 22 wins, 32 pole positions, 1130.5 World Championship points and two World Championships.”
