For its 52nd annual National Technical Conference, the Precision Machined Products Association (PMPA) will be focusing on workforce development and innovation, two things it feels are crucial to the continued success of North America’s manufacturing industry.
Like for most businesses working within today’s highly competitive global market, the precision machining industry’s ongoing success is intrinsically linked to their ability to innovate. PMPA’s Conference aims to provide the content to develop ‘today’s talent for tomorrow’s success’.
PMPA Executive Director, Mike Duffin commented:
“Developing a skilled workforce is the greatest challenge that is facing the machining industry.
“This national conference is expected to draw over 400 machining professionals to this targeted workforce development training event.
“With programming targeted to reach technical, quality and management personnel, this conference is designed to further develop the skilled workforce we need to keep manufacturing competitive in North America.”
An overview of the programme includes sessions and workshops covering ‘maximising tool performance’, ‘CNC programming’, ‘managing maintenance’, ‘benefits of 3D modelling’ and ‘achieving lean’.
This year’s keynote speaker is David Rutherford of Froglogic Concepts. A former Navy SEAL, Rutherford was a combat paramedic, operator and instructor during his time in service, participating in thousands of high risk training missions.
Since leaving the Special Operations community, Rutherford has served as an international training expert and security specialist for one of the world’s largest private security companies and the US government.
The former-SEALs message has reached over a million people, guiding them to forge their self-confidence and commit to living the ‘Team Life’.
The PMPA’s National Technical Conference will take place at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, Ohio from April 14-16, and is immediately followed, from April 16-18, by the Precision Machining Technology Show (PMTS) – North America’s premier trade show focusing on the precision machining industry.
