The Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) has announced Phil Jones as the Head of Supply Chain Development in a ploy to increase the efficiency and growth of the manufacturing industry within the UK.
Jones is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt and joins MAS from Vestas Wind Systems where he spent three years in charge of the supply chain of the world’s largest producer of wind turbines. His role in the new job will consist of exploring supply chain opportunities for both SMEs and large enterprises, as well as helping established manufacturers develop a more comprehensive system themselves.
The Mechanical and Production Engineering graduate is thrilled to be involved with MAS and is looking forward to the challenges ahead.

He said: “The opportunity to join MAS and work closely with UK manufacturers is an exciting challenge. We have a breadth of resources and capabilities to support companies and I want to help ensure that these are utilised throughout the supply chain and in line with industry’s needs.
“A lot of companies dedicate time to refining or developing products and less time is spent on service opportunities or operational efficiency. The results from our first national Barometer reinforce this with product price (85 percent) and product ranges (77 percent) the most popular choices when it came to identifying what respondents plan to measure and review over the next six months.
“Manufacturers could benefit greatly from implementing process improvements that would ultimately filter through the supply chain to increase customer satisfaction, retention and growth.”
MAS is funded by the Department for Business and has provided support and solutions to manufacturing businesses in England since 2002. As the global manufacturing industry becomes more and more competitive, MAS is playing a vital role in sharing the knowledge and experience from within the organisation, and Jones is a significant addition to the team.
“Phil’s extensive background throughout the value chain from sales and operations to continuous improvement will help manufacturers connect with the best support available from MAS. We are very pleased to welcome him to the team,” MAS Area Director for South England, Simon Howes, stated.
