British sports car manufacturer Aston Martin and Canadian-based luxury phone designers Mobiado are collaborating to produce a collection of stunning mobile handsets and have unveiled a transparent touchscreen concept phone. The CPT002 concept combines "existing technology and software with state-of-the-art advances in electronics to create a realistic vision of luxury mobile phones," according to Mobiado.
SPECIFICATIONS AND FUNCTIONS
The CPT002 has a solid sapphire crystal, see-through capacitive touchscreen with platinum crafted sides which incorporates the battery, electronics and SIM card allowing for the display to be transparent. The phone functions as a key to the user's Aston Martin vehicle, automatically unlocking the doors as the driver approaches. The phone also connects directly to the Aston Martin's display while still remaining in the user's pocket.
The CPT002’s built in accelerometer also adds an added safety feature. If the Aston Martin is involved in an accident, the vehicle airbag will receive accelerometer information from the CPT002 in the driver's pocket. These readings will give the Aston Martin information of the driver's acceleration movement from within the car seat, allowing for more responsive control over safety deployments such as airbag sequence, timing, and seatbelt stiffening.

Utilising existing software, the CPT002 concept phone combines with Aston Martin's GPS system to provide a new level of interaction with social media sites like Foursquare, Facebook and Twitter. Using location based social networking site Foursquare, The CPT002 will show the user's current position as well as the location of friends and nearby points of interest on Aston Martin's fully integrated GPS map display, helping the driver to navigate between people and places.
Cameras integrated into the Aston Martin vehicle can be set to periodically update Facebook and Twitter with pictures, video and information of passing cities and landmarks during the journey. The CPT002 also enables real time Facebook status updates or Twitter tweets if the driver decides to use their Aston Martin for a track day session.

Mobiado, who will present the handset at BaselWorld, the world watch and jewellery show in Switzerland, say the purpose of this is concept is “to push the boundaries of invention, allowing concept ideas to be identified for future production designs. Mobiado’s passion for the avant-garde is an essential element of its DNA and history, and the driving force of its R&D strategy.”
Regardless of the CPT002 concept, Mobiado will still produce an exclusive range of luxury handsets in collaboration with Aston Martin. Commenting on the range which is planning to launch in May 2011, Peter Bonac, President of Bonac Innovation Corporation said: “Like Aston Martin, Mobiado prides itself on design innovation and technological excellence.
