British company, Crown Jewels, has launched an unusual souvenir to mark the upcoming wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton – Royal Wedding condoms of distinction.
The contraceptives, which are sold in packs of three, have a picture of the royal couple on the front and according to the manufacturers contain a “triumvirate of regal prophylactics”, which are “lavishly lubed” and “regally ribbed”.
The special celebration packs urge lovers to "lie back and think of England" and bear the slogan: "Like a royal wedding, intercourse with a loved one is an unforgettable occasion."
The company believe the contraceptives are a unique way to remember the occasion and would be a good memento for the wedding day.
However, the manufacturer has come under fire from its critics. There has been a wave of negative reactions to the condoms. Majesty magazine editor Ingrid Seward has branded them tasteless and hurtful and a step too far.
Crown Jewels has stressed that its special contraceptives are not supplied to or approved by William, his fiancée or the royal family.
Buckingham Palace has refused to comment.
