Those within the industry are still looking for signs that the three main political parties have any serious plans to reform the economy, emphasising the importance of manufacturing.

More than 4 million jobs have been lost in manufacturing during the last 10 years alone and this trend needs to be reversed if Britain is to take advantage of opportunities in the new technologies of electric vehicles, wind turbines, solar panels, or other sustainable products.
Manufacturing now accounts for little over 10 percent of the UK’s GDP. Do Labour, the Conservatives or the LibDems have credible strategies to make manufacturing, and high-tech manufacturing in particular, more important to the UK economy?
