Toyota President Akio Toyoda says the firm’s cars are safe, but admitted it faced a crisis

Toyoda is “deeply sorry” for the recalls and admitted Toyota faced “a moment of crisis”.
“Believe me, Toyota cars are safe,” he said. “Please believe, customer-first is our priority.”
Toyoda, grandson of the company’s founder, added the firm was still deciding what to do about brake problems on some Prius hybrid models.
He also pledged to set up a new quality control committee.
