Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery has agreed - along with General Motors - to extend the deadline for a deal to acquire the Hummer brand until the end of February.

A definitive agreement announced by the two companies in October, which allows Tengzhong to buy the brand, was due to expire on Sunday.

That deadline has now been extended as the companies look for approval from Chinese regulators for the deal.

The pair are determined to wrap up the sale soon.
